an unedited "experience" of "What is an experience?"
What is an experience? Is a "performative" non-performance installation growing out the the Fluxus movement of the 1950's and 60's. An investigation into the ideas of performance, art, and experiences.
Utilizing the Golden Ratio, John Dewey's idea of experiential and everyday art, and continual presence. The "pop-up" installation was crafted completely out of paper, painters tape, string, and 1"x2" boards with no hard points or permanent markings to the existing space. The installation followed the Fibonacci sequence and was 21 feet long, 13 feet wide, and 8 feet high, with a 5 foot by 3 foot entrance. The 180 red envelopes were hand made at 5"x3" and contained "experiences" and instructions a la George Brecht.
The viewers were asked to abide (or not) by 18 rules and spend 18 minutes (or less) in the piece (a restriction held by the facilitators of the show.)
